Ocean at the End of the Lane
Final piece in my senior thesis. The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman had very recently come out at the time, and I had already read it multiple times when I decided that my final project would be book covers. Naturally I felt like I should cover something that was so important to me.
This book covers a lot of themes, and emotions, and after quite a lot of work and deliberating I decided that going representational wouldn't work, so I focused instead heavily on the abstract. The Ocean that was mentioned became my focus, and in the waters I created shadows of things that were important to the story, with an emphasis on the heart. On the back cover, the shadows of the things that eat things were lurking, just below the surface.
