This is a project I worked on while in school; we were tasked with creating a cover for a classic book, and I chose to do Through the Looking Glass & Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll. Deciding to take a look at the card motif, I ended up with a design that weaves a lot of small details from the story into the cover, from the parade along the fringe and the cookies at her shoulders to the rose in her hand. I decided to replace the hearts on the card edge with Queen chess pieces as a reference to the second book, and worked its title in on the other side of the book.
I do think that the text could have been implemented into the design better than I have here, however; it's rather plain text that I could have worked into the design, rather than having it outside.
